DBA's & Sponsoring Org

In order to accept donations, you must be able to identify a sponsoring organization that can accept financial donations for “Love (your city name)” and set up a designated account as your “Fiscal Sponsor.” Most often, this is an involved church or organization.

• File a “Fictitious Business Name Statement” with your county clerk using “Love (your city name)” so that donations can be made directly and deposited into your sponsoring organization's designated account.

• Your Sponsoring organization will need to set up a DBA at their bank so that people can donate directly to “Love (your city name)”.

Eventually, you may want to set up your own 501c3 - this would remove you from that sponsoring organization's umbrella and you'd be free to set up your own bank account.
